Executive Chef Ross Burtwell specializes in preparing the freshest seafood, Angus beef, wild game and ranch fare at The Cotton Gin A great place for lunch, has the freshest salad bar around and a homemade soup every day. The lunch buffet has several choices, be sure to check out the catfish at noon on Fridays! The Hill Top Cafe is famous for its Cajun and Greek specialties, fresh gulf seafood. Johnny Nicholas is the priopirator, a former member of the Asleep At the Wheel band, he now plays the piano and harmonica and will sing a few to keep the evening lively. The Navajo Grill is over 10-years old and is a Hill Country standard. Great wine list and they have recently added a covered patio with a full bar that is really nice. Not on the menu, but one of my favorites, instead of getting the vegetable of the day, ask if you can have the FLASH FRIED SPINACH, tell them I said to try it! Enjoy the delicious culinary creations Chad Fry and Patti Vander Lyn at Rose Hill Chad has trained in various kitchens for 14 years, and Patti is the breakfast chef and one of the owners. This is located just south of Stonewall, a fabulous view overlooking the Pedernales River Valley.
Troisi's Italian Restaurant August E's - Texas size portions of fine, fresh and extraordinary gourmet cuisine. Located about 5 miles east of town, this is in the old Rocky Hill School complex where I attended school for my first 7 years in one of the other buildings on the grounds. A two room schoolhouse with grades 1 thru 8; country school at it's best! They have a full bar, patio is an excellent place to have glass of wine and enjoy the views.
Bonterra is tucked away on a hilltop at the west end of town, chef Steve Howard will see to it that you leave stuffed. Website coming soon, open for lunch and dinner, I suggest a reservation, call 830-997-2370, you will be glad you did!
Golf courses
Boot Ranch A promising new course that I have had the privelege of playing recently, and in my opinion, the big city courses don't have a thing on this one. Designed and owned by Hal Sutton, this is a private course and part of amenities the ranch features. Homesites and club membership are available, we can help arrange a tour of the ranch, just let us know and we'll make the appointment.
