Darlene Dartez

Although born and raised in Del Rio Texas, my love for Fredericksburg started in my childhood days with visits year round to see my grandmother and other family members. My life is full of wonderful memories watching this town grow over the years and it only continues to get better!

In 1978 I met and married my husband Peter a Fredericksburg native, and we have five beautiful children blessed with the opportunity to grow up and experience the kind of life this quaint, beautiful town has to offer!

My husband Peter and his brother Timmy own and operate a well established (over 20 yrs.) Construction Company Dartez Brothers Construction, Inc. as well as a second construction company, Fredericksburg Homes. They specialize in residential, remodeling and light commercial!

With a general contractor for a husband, becoming involved in Real Estate was the perfect move!

I have been a part of this exciting and challenging field since 1998 and I truly love it! I have worked in public sales all my life and this career choice just seem to fit right in! Each day and every transaction with new customers presents the opportunity to build my business through loyalty and good old fashioned customer service from beginning to end!

My first vision of Fredericksburg was driving down Main Street at midnight during Christmas to visit my parents who had retired here. The entire street was lit up with beautiful white lights ; I made the decision then and there I was going to live here. After living on both coasts (Weston Connecticut in High School, Boston (Pine Manor College) and transferring to Pepperdine University in Malibu, I had finally made it back to my home state (born in Ft Worth). This is a great place to raise a family and small enough to feel safe but at the same time diverse with a lot of the cultural interest of a big city.

I have a great family, my step daughter Melissa lives in San Antonio with her brother Marshall, my son, Jordan, is a Junior in High School and an aspiring chef. My husband Gary is the City Manager of Fredericksburg and has done a fantastic job for 15 years . My hobbies are cooking and watercolor painting in my "spare" time, and then there's shopping, but that's more of an obsession my husband would say...........

I began my real estate career in 1998, a move that has been very rewarding in many ways Not only do I enjoy meeting all the new people, I have gained a lot of new friendships along the way. Buying and selling real estate does not have to be difficult, but it does require being able to put the pieces of the puzzle together, finding the right property with the right features begins the process. Surrounding myself with other top notch professionals such as lenders, surveyors, title companys and attorneys has enabled me to provide outstanding service to my clients. Being associated with the worldwide RE/MAX family also affords me the opportunity to connect you to a top producing agent in other areas. Call me, let's begin your new lifestyle in Fredericksburg.

Real Estate Tips

Selling Your Home >Selling and Lock Boxes

Having your house on the market involves a certain invasion of your privacy. Real estate agents will be previewing it and showing it to buyers with some regularity. While you want to make your home reasonably accessible to the real estate professionals and their prospects, you don't want to run the risk of stepping out of your shower just as a broker is ushering in buyers.

In many areas real estate agents use a handy little tool of the trade called a "lock box". When a property is occupied, the agent first calls to let the owner know when they will be coming by. If no one is at home, the agent can get into the house with a key stored in the lock box.

The other extreme of accessibility is to require a day's notice before a showing, and to insist that your real estate agent be present at each one. This will eliminate a lot of the inconvenience to you, but it may also eliminate a lot of showings of your house. Whatever arrangements you work out, keep in mind that the easier you make it for real estate agents to open and show your home, the easier it will be to sell it quickly.
